「常に物語を探せ」というのは、ずっと才能のある写真家の友人が私に言った言葉だ。私はいつもそれを文字通り受け止めてきた。私は常にストーリーテラーであり、少なくともストーリーテラーになりたいと思ってきた。幼い頃から本を読み、文章を書くことが私の情熱となった。しかし、書きながらも、私は自分の物語に命を吹き込むイメージを求めていた。絵を描いたりする才能がほとんどなかった私は、物語を語る上でこの部分をほとんど脇に置いてきた。だから今、私は写真を使って物語を語っている。
