Winter is winding down and the wildlife is out in force. Between several days of terrible weather and snow storms I was blessed with a day of sunshine and blue skies. Taking to the Hokkaidomobile, I went out in search of photos. Initially I was worried I’d find nothing more interesting than some snow-covered mushrooms until I spotted a fox crossing a frozen river just out of my lens’ reach. As I stopped to watch him cross, something caught my eye on the far bank of the river, it was a buck! And then something else moved, another buck! After an hour of waiting I found a couple of photogenic bucks and spent some time photographing them.
Happy with my photos I was almost ready to return home. But I took the long way, just in case. My detour was rewarded when I spotted not one, not two, but three separate herds of deer. Today was a good day.
